Our story is one of struggle, discovery, and, ultimately, liberation……

In 2017, while running her beauty salon, our founder realized she couldn’t continue using relaxers on herself and ultimately, her clients because of the damaging effects they had on her hair and scalp.

The burns, the pain, the constant worry about the toxic chemicals seeping through her scalp… it was a nightmare. And to make matters worse, her hair just wouldn’t grow past her neck level no matter what she did.

This struggle with hair relaxers was not just physical, but also emotional. Our founder had struggled with low self-esteem and body dysmorphia from childhood, detesting looking at herself in the mirror.

But as she began to explore the world of natural hair care, she discovered something amazing: the power of nature. She started experimenting with herbs and natural ingredients, whipping up concoctions to nourish her hair.

As her hair transformed, a sense of liberation blossomed inside her. She began to love her hair, then who she is.

She loved the way her hair bloomed, and with it, her confidence and self-image grew.

In 2018, with the continuous requests from others to give them the secret to her healthy hair, she realized that she wasn’t alone in her struggles and that many African women faced similar challenges with their hair and skin.

She shut down her salon and spent the next two years researching the science of hair, African herbs and how to turn the same natural ingredients that had worked wonders for her into products that would help others. She was driven by a passion to share her discovery with others, to help them achieve the same kind of transformation she had experienced.

And so, Egojenn Hair And Skin Care was born, a brand founded with a passion for healthy beauty products and started with a passion for solving hair and skin problems experienced by African women.
